The Asiatic Society was founded by Sir William Jones on 15 January 1784. Presently it is located at the iconic building at the Jawaharlal Neheru Road-Park Street crossing. One of the main activities of the Asiatic Society was to collect the old manuscripts of India. They have got a huge archive of rare books and journals. They really deserve a big salute for the work they are indulge with since their inception.
